The initiative is led by Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE), Automation Anywhere and TSME aims to strengthen digital skills among Jordanian populace.

Technology Strategies Middle East (TSME) in collaboration with Automation Anywhere, a global provider of robotic process automation (RPA) solutions, has announced an initiative to launch RPA training to five renowned universities in Jordan.

The programme will initially deliver RPA skills training to university faculty members of Yarmouk University, Mutah University, Tafila Technical University, Princess Sumaya University for Technology and Jordan University of Science and Technology.

The initiative is part of Jordan’s 2021 to 2025 National Strategy for Digital Transformation to promote the development of a digitally savvy economy and workforce. In partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE) employees will have the opportunity for e-learning and training on RPA from TSME, as well as earning certifications in RPA from Automation Anywhere University, the education and certification division of Automation Anywhere.

In addition to training faculty members, the initiative will extend to students, who will be trained and certified internationally in an effort to secure specialised skills needed for employment throughout the country.

The collaboration agreement was signed in the presence of HE Ahmed Al-Hanadeh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and representatives of TSME and Automation Anywhere.

HE Ahmed Al-Hanadeh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE), said: “The adoption of modern technology in transforming lives is critical not only in Jordan’s education system but also for the future of the country. Technologies such as RPA is one of the most important emerging technologies that is accelerating the pace of Digital Transformation. It enables entities to move faster, solve complexities and fuel growth enabling employees to make more time for creative and strategic functions. The collaboration hence is a significant one for us; one that will empower the youth to stay abreast of AI technologies and prepare them effectively for future workplace roles.”

Omar Mada’een, Regional Manager, TSME Middle East, said: “With several of the Jordan’s entities already underway in their transformation journey, the country is rapidly progressing towards a digitally enabled knowledge-based economy. Aligned with this vision, we are excited to play the role in equipping the faculty with skills that enable them to contribute towards the next phase of the country’s growth by imparting their knowledge to students. Bridging this gap is indeed critical; we are honoured to be leading this program that will further drive the country’s digital economy.”

“Across the region, organisations are faced with a significant talent shortage of skilled knowledge workers who are proficient in multiple technology platforms,” said Milan Sheth, Executive Vice President, IMEA, Automation Anywhere. “Inculcating RPA training as a part of university curriculum will enable the development of highly skilled RPA professionals locally along with new economic opportunities.”

The university heads also echoed the importance for the need of widespread use of exponential technologies to transform learning journeys and advocated the fact that preparing the youth to use technology effectively is an essential real-world skill especially under unprecedented circumstances such as the pandemic. They also reiterated the significance to acquire the knowledge and capabilities needed to succeed in the digital age.
