GSC widens reach into African market through Megapro Holdings

Global Sports Commerce has acquired a strategic stake in Megapro Holdings

Global Sports Commerce (GSC), one of the world’s largest sports, technology and management companies, has acquired a strategic stake in South African-based company Megapro Holdings.

This will include digital LED signage technology, scoring software, content creation and management, in-venue fan connectivity and sponsorship measurement solutions.

GSC and Megapro already share ownership of Megaview, which provides LED and digital solutions to leading South African sports agencies, stadiums, venues and stakeholders.

“GSC is committed to providing worldwide professional expertise to enhance the commercial value for sports bodies and entities by creating more avenues for new commerce in the field of sports,” said Donald Campbell, GSC Board Member of Megapro Holdings and Megaview.

“We are now taking a leap through our close association with Megapro Holdings and their well-established infrastructure, local market knowledge, experience, broad client network and successful track record across the ever-evolving sporting fraternity in South Africa.”

Founded in 1986 by the current Executive Chairman, George Rautenbach, Megapro Holdings has been at the forefront of the sports marketing industry in South Africa for over 30 years. Megapro has played an important role in all the major events in South Africa since the Rugby World Cup in 1995, including the African Cup of Nations (1996), Cricket World Cup (2003) and FIFA World Cup (2010).
