Schneider Electric, a leader in Digital Transformation of energy management and automation, and Initiative France, a French network of associations offering finance and support to business creators, investors and developers, have partnered to deploy a training, financing and support programme for entrepreneurs in Burkina Faso.

Through the implementation of the four-year programme, the aim is to support 80 informal entrepreneurs in the energy sector and to develop a virtuous ecosystem. It includes a training course to acquire technical skills in the trade and financing solutions through the granting of unsecured loans and business creation support via the four Burkina Faso Initiative platforms. In conjunction, mentoring may also be introduced to support the entrepreneur in their strategic approach. Supporting Burkina Faso’s National Plan for Economic and Social Development (PNDES), one of Burkina Faso’s major challenges is to create sustainable jobs, particularly for young people and women entering the job market. In July 2016, the Burkina Faso government adopted the plan to help country’s development. The plan focuses on sustainable and inclusive development of human capital as a growth driver for the economy, job creation and sustainable development.
