Canon partners with Tecom announces UAE innovation centre

The Innovation Centre is part of Canon’s strategy of working closely with its customers.

Canon Middle East, in partnership with Dubai Internet City, unveiled its first Innovation Centre in the Middle East in Dubai. The Innovation Centre is an evolved showroom concept, and Canon has chosen the UAE to develop the centre to its full potential and establish it as a model for showrooms of the future.

The Innovation Centre is part of Canon’s strategy of working closely with its customers. It provides businesses and other entities with a live demonstration of all of Canon’s latest hardware and software technologies. Canon’s full range of business solutions are on display and can be tested as they would in any office or warehouse environment. It will also assist in offering a manageable system while assuring cost saving, added security, and opening new communications scenarios for end-consumers.

“This is Canon’s first Innovation Centre in the region, and Dubai is the ideal city to host this evolved showroom. The UAE is leading the drive for technology, innovation and smart cities, and our Innovation Centre is in line with the government’s vision,” said Anurag Agrawal, Managing Director, Canon Middle East.

“The Innovation Centre is also designed to inspire our customers and foster partnerships where we can come together with like-minded corporates and entities to create pioneering solutions that benefit the larger narrative of the UAE government,” he added.

Canon is exploring the changing world of business and data, and helping customers address their challenges and improve their business. The Innovation Centre provides hardware and software technology as well as process consultancy, with Canon working alongside its customers to build the best solution for their organisations based on their business priorities.

Speaking on the successful launch, Ammar Al Malik, Executive Director of Dubai Internet City said, “Canon has been a trusted partner of Dubai Internet City since 2001. Its investment to set up its first Innovation Centre in the Middle East proves that Dubai is the location of choice for established and emerging innovators. At Dubai Internet City, we consistently strive to accelerate and enable innovation, digitalisation and growth, and the launch of the new centre is a testimony to that mission.”

“We are glad to welcome Canon to our thriving ecosystem of partner innovation centres, which play a key role in bringing ideas to life and provide opportunities for people with diverse backgrounds to exchange ideas, leverage their respective strengths and bring new and exciting concepts to market.”

A noteworthy feature of the Innovation Centre is the Interactive Projection room, which transforms into a near virtual reality experience as a result of eight 4D Canon projectors covering every angle. Another key aspect of the facility are the Augmented Reality services, which offer video services and customisation of communication using variable data to meet the needs of the digital world and communication.

“In the evolving economic environment, we are adapting and growing to support our customers’ changing needs,” added Agrawal. “Canon recently commissioned a report called Office Insights to understand how businesses handle documents. The report revealed that 70% of respondents believe printing and copying documents are essential or very important. It also confirmed that businesses are turning to digitisation for efficiency.

“However, one of the most striking findings is the widespread lack of awareness on how to go about digitisation, or digital transformation, and the cost associated with increased printing and scanning. Canon can help them navigate this part of their business,” he explained.

The Innovation Centre has several machines that can produce large-scale materials, but some of the most notable products are significantly smaller. Document scanners are improving the way businesses work. Digital documents are now an essential part of workplace productivity, and with Canon’s document scanners, business can completely transform their systems to support a secure digital space for their documents. Through digitisation, businesses can significantly cut costs and have easy access to any file within seconds.

“In line with our corporate philosophy of Kyosei, our strategy has always been to drive sustainable growth and strengthen our core business by being a partner that helps solve the challenges of our customers. With Canon’s expertise and product solutions, we are the right partner to manage these essential business elements cost-effectively, especially if these are related to improving in-house document processing and implementing secure digitisation,” Agrawal added.
