It will provide an excellent opportunity for visitors from all sectors to see the latest technology solutions and applications that are impacting happiness for Dubai’s residents.

HE Dr Aisha Bin Bishr, Director General of Smart Dubai Office, said: “At Gitex Technology Week 2016 we shall share the latest accomplishments of from the Smart Dubai Office; the Smart Dubai establishments Dubai Data and Smart Dubai Government; and key Smart Dubai initiatives including the Happiness Agenda and the Smart Dubai Platform. We are continually committed to exploring and adopting the latest technology innovation towards to enhance city experiences. We believe that technology is the means to achieve the ultimate goal of a smart city – people’s happiness — and we take this as a great responsibility and a privilege. We will continue to unify all our efforts to achieve the vision of our wise leaders, to increase quality of life and happiness for all Dubai residents and visitors”.

Smart Dubai will be showcasing the latest updates to the Happiness Agenda that was adopted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, earlier this year to fuel Dubai’s city transformation with a globally unique, scientific approach to measuring and impacting people’s happiness. The Smart Dubai Government Establishment will also be showcasing updates to the Happiness Meter service, in line with the Measure portfolio of the Happiness Agenda, to research, formulate and implement predictive happiness impact score and citywide happiness index.

The Happiness Meter, the real-time customer happiness measurement tool announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed during Gitex 2014, is now installed at over 500 government and private sector customer interaction touchpoints throughout the city. The Happiness Meter is expanding its data collection and insights capability with new customer engagement and feedback tools, as part of a comprehensive roadmap to implement an extended product suite for the Happiness Meter.

Smart Dubai will also unveil the latest enhancements to the DubaiNow platform, the first unified hub for city services, meeting the daily needs of Dubai residents with access to more than 55 smart services provided by 24 government and private agencies. The DubaiNow platform is a major milestone in achieving Smart Dubai Office’s vision of making Dubai the happiest city in the world, and accomplishing the mandate of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed to deliver one government, one app for Dubai residents.

DubaiNow is a pioneering, unified platform that enables customers to access city services and conduct transactions, at the time and place that is most convenient for them. The DubaiNow platform is available on most digital channels, including: mobile phones, wearable devices, websites, smart kiosks, and audio channels. The DubaiNow app is currently available for download on the AppStore and Google Play, and a beta version of the DubaiNow web portal will be launched at Gitex 2016.

Since the announcement of the DubaiNow app during Gitex 2015, several new services have been added from a growing list of public and private sector contributors. Among the latest services provided under DubaiNow are Ejari which facilitates rental contract procedures, Makani and Good Conduct Certificate. Additional applications include locator for schools, hospitals, clinics, and city service centers in the case of emergencies.

The DubaiNow application includes impressive, innovative and interdependent government services that support easy and smooth transactions, benefiting from shared data. A parent, for example, can browse vaccination plans under the health category connected to the Dubai Health Authority. Because a child is one of the most important things in a person’s life, users can keep a record of vaccinations that can be stored by DubaiNow, along with the dates of the next vaccination on a personal dashboard. As the single hub for most city services organised by customer-centric life domains such as health, travel and education, users can seamlessly transition from, for example, accessing pediatrician services to topping off their Salik in a unified app experience.

The application also allows the user to design a list of favorite smart services that can be accessed via a one-click button. Smart services can be easily added to or removed from the Favorites menu. Prayer Times can even be added to the Personal Dashboard, and DubaiNow will notify users of prayer timings and direct them to the nearest mosque. After downloading DubaiNow, users can also browse schools in Dubai, and review their curricula, annual fees and other information that can help in choosing the right school for their children. In recognition of the importance of time-saving for Dubai’s residents, DubaiNow was designed to make life easier. Through it, users can automatically pay electricity, water and telecommunications bills as well as traffic fines.

The Dubai Data initiative led by the Dubai Data Establishment and decreed by the Dubai Data Law of 2015, is the most comprehensive citywide data initiative guiding the opening and sharing of city data across the public and private sectors. Dubai Data will stimulate a new data economy for the city, unlocking opportunities and ultimately enriching the quality of life for all Dubai stakeholders, including government departments, private organisations, investors, residents and visitors. This is in accordance with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who once said that “Our aim is not to have the most data, but to unleash the greatest value from data, creating new opportunities and improved experiences for all.”

Smart Dubai is implementing the Smart Dubai Platform, the new digital backbone for Dubai, in collaboration with Strategic Partner du, a Diamond Sponsor for the Smart Dubai Pavilion participating in Gitex Technology Week 2016. The Smart Dubai Platform will be the central operating system for Dubai, enabling seamless access to city services and the data for all individuals and the public and private sector. The Smart Dubai Platform represents the next giant leap forward in Dubai’s smart city transformation.
