The Board of Directors of Smart Dubai Office held its sixth meeting, which was presided over by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board, as part of its mission to fulfill the mandate of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to uplift the city through smart technology.

The meeting also came as part of the Smart Dubai Office board’s ongoing efforts to bring happiness to the people of Dubai, using technology innovation as a key enabler and working with strategic partners from the public and private sectors to optimise experiences in the entire city. Board members also reviewed updates on strategic programmes from Smart Dubai, including the Smart Dubai roadmap, which define and track progress on KPIs for the smart city transformation to make Dubai a more seamless, safe, efficient and impactful experience across all city dimensions, economy, living, governance, mobility, environment and people.

During the meeting, members also discussed upcoming announcements for smart services and initiatives from the represented entities, and agreed on methods to promote smart services and drive adoption across the city.

The meeting was also attended by HE Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Vice Chairman of the Board; HE Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority; Colonel Khaled Nasser Al-Razzuqi, Director General of Smart Services Department at Dubai Police; HE Yousef Hamad Al Sheibani, Director General of Dubai Cyber Security Centre; Mohammed Abdullah Al Zafeen, Director of IT Department at Dubai Municipality; Mansour Juma Bu Osaiba, Deputy CEO of Nedaa; HE Younus Al Nasser, Assistant Director General of the Smart Dubai Office and CEO of the Dubai Data Establishment; Dr Ali Al Azzawi; and Eng Saud Aziz, Board Rapporteur.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman, Smart Dubai Office said, “The success of the Smart Dubai initiative relies on strong collaboration between public and private sector entities. We encourage all partners to work together towards achieving key targets for the city’s smart transformation, ensuring to fulfill the mandate of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Every member of the board is continually working within their entities to ensure a faster implementation of the smart transformation agenda and deliver on the mandate to make Dubai a superior city experience powered by smart technology.”

“We have now completed our plan of action to implement our agenda across all government entities. We have also discussed our plans for the year 2017 which include several more initiatives and services enabling us to reach our goal of making Dubai the happiest city on earth,” said Her Excellency Dr Aisha bin Bishr, Director General, Smart Dubai Office.
