Middle East Telecommunications Company, METCO is at the forefront of the digital transformation. METCO provide services for communication solution implementations and provides guidance on products from industry partners. METCO delivers productivity improvements that meet challenges and drives business forward. For more than three decades, METCO has been delivering turnkey telecommunications solutions, rolling out high-performing networks, and providing managed services to ISPs, government institutions and private enterprises. By adapting and adjusting to changes in the market and embracing new challenges, METCO is actively helping to create a unified Middle East and African region.

“METCO has been a long-term partner of Avaya, having worked with Nortel before the acquisition, so they have a strong knowledge of the market and the direction it is heading,” says Faten Halabi, Regional Sales Leader for Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait and Pakistan, at Avaya. “They are a proven systems integrator, having a deep knowledge base across all our portfolio, and dominate in the contact center domain. We also have the largest market share in unified collaboration, served mostly by METCO, and they have also proven their networking capabilities and won some huge references.”

Avaya has aligned itself with customer needs, with software and services now accounting for three quarters of their revenue. As a vendor, it specialises in complex business communications, built on open and mobile software platforms, and supported by robust underlying network infrastructure. Avaya is well placed to help drive customers’ digital transformation strategies. Avaya is working with customers across the region and supporting contact center agents and digital transformation initiatives across key industry sectors including banking and finance, government, healthcare, and retail.

“METCO are authorised to sell, design, implement and support unified communications, contact centre, networking and video solutions”

Avaya’s vertical focus allows it to address specific industry challenges and deliver unique solutions for enterprises of all sizes, helping enterprises in their digital journeys. As the workplace is becoming more mobile, and productivity is not limited to a desk in an office building, cloud-enabled unified communications and collaboration tools are becoming the norm.

Avaya Edge is Avaya’s worldwide channel program designed to support Avaya partners as they grow their business and achieve competency in Avaya solutions. The programme structure is based on partner track, streamlined requirements, country location and three gem levels: Diamond, Sapphire and Emerald. Metco is holding the Diamond level which is the highest medal level a partner can obtain. To sell Avaya solutions, there are a minimum number of sales and design credentials required of the partner at a country level. Metco are authorised to sell, design, implement and support unified communications, contact centre, networking and video solutions.

With regard to the drivers and inhibitors in Kuwait and in the region, Faten had this to say. “With oil prices remaining challenging, this has had an effect on the overall ICT market. While certain sectors might delay technology projects, these cannot be shelved indefinitely. On the contrary, especially here in the Gulf, we are seeing a continuing hunger for innovation but organisations are looking closely at what will really differentiate services, drive business growth, and attract and retain customers. Organisations understand that services are only truly smart if they are intuitive, fully available and deliver the desired customer experience. We are seeing organisations delaying investment in projects and revisiting priorities to see if they can do more with less again.”

METCO’s network has more than 600 experienced employees working across the Middle East and African region, working with leading telecommunications service providers, government institutions and private enterprises. It has an extensive customer base of more than 1,000 organisations including Ooredoo, Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait Finance House, Radisson Hotels, Ministry of Interior, and a 25-year collaboration with Zain Group.
