Fujitsu upgrades SAP HANA In-Memory for super retailer Choithrams boosting DX
Fujitsu announced successful delivery of an upgrade to the SAP HANA platform for Choithrams Supermarket and Department Store in the Middle East, which is helping the retailer to harness the power of in-memory computing. Drawing on its proven competencies in delivering SAP software implementation projects, Fujitsu will continue to support Choithrams as part of a five-year service agreement² in addition to implementing the SAP solution.
The upgrade is part of Choithrams’ digital transformation with the SAP HANA platform delivered by Fujitsu to help the company to make faster and more sophisticated business decisions. This is important in a fast-changing retail and FMCG environment with new challengers – from traditional retailers as well as digital e-commerce platforms.
The new SAP HANA platform helps enhance productivity and supports the management with their analytics requirements, while boosting employee operational efficiency. Complex management reports related to logistics that used to take days to generate with the previous system are now being generated in just a few hours.
Since 2016, Fujitsu not only helped upgrade Choithram’s SAP system, but also supported the upgrade of the retailer’s existing hardware infrastructure, helping to ensure that the systems are digitalised and future proofed. The solutions provided by Fujitsu include SAP HANA appliances, application servers, monitoring and management servers, backup solutions, and virtualisation software as well as professional services, implementation and integration at Choithrams’ existing datacentre.
Arunachalam Palaniappan, Chief Technology Officer of Choithrams, said: “Participating in the Fujitsu Forum 2016 offered us great insights on how we can leverage the benefits of digital transformation. The solutions recommended by Fujitsu were an ideal fit to our requirements. The ability of Fujitsu to understand our needs and the company’s proven credentials in SAP technology instilled our trust and confidence in the company to meet our goals of going digital.”
Farid Al-Sabbagh, Vice President and Managing Director at Fujitsu Middle East, comments: “Choithram’s SAP HANA upgrade is a significant milestone in the company’s digital transformation that will boost its all-round competitiveness especially in the field of e-commerce. Speed and agility in decision making is key for businesses to suceed in today’s fast-changing retail environment, and the SAP HANA solution will help boost operational efficiency and productivity.”
