NetApp, the data authority for hybrid cloud, has announced the integration of its industry-leading All Flash Storage Array (AFF) Series into leading motorcycle manufacturer Ducati’s Information Technology (IT) environment.

By leveraging NetApp’s cloud-connected flash and data services, Ducati is able to modernise infrastructure, bolster compliance, strengthen performance and ensure business continuity during the transformation process.

Ducati is a leading manufacturer of specially designed motorcycles that are characterised by high-performance Desmodromic engines, innovative design and cutting-edge technology. It was founded in 1926 to provide an exciting sports riding experience to its customers. As a data driven company, Ducati partners with NetApp to access and analyse a vast amount of data to apply throughout the business, including logistics, marketing and customer relationship management, in addition to racing data Ducati can use to optimise performance.

“We closely collaborated with Ducati’s IT team to understand its need for a cutting-edge data management infrastructure,” said Fadi Kanafani, Senior Director Middle East and Africa at NetApp.

“The NetApp AFF series immediately overhauls Ducati’s data management and storage to build a powerful, modern IT infrastructure. The solution aids the IT team in critical decision making and implementing operational efficiency in bike production and other business areas.”

Through the new NetApp AFF data management system, Ducati can now easily manage about 200 applications and over 300 terabyte of data to grant reliable real-time access to the world’s fastest enterprise all-flash storage from anywhere in the world, across multiple clouds, with full GDPR compliance.

“Our new flash systems will allow us to guarantee a quicker response to every business instance as well as increasing the speed of our prototyping and go-to-market,” said Stefano Rendina, IT manager of Ducati Corse.

Konstantin Kostenarov, CTO of Ducati Motor Holding, added: “Using data management solutions with integrated data protection and disaster recovery design helped us to face our development without duplicating our efforts.

“It allows Ducati IT to focus on our business priorities: the future, both in racing and in production.”

NetApp AFF A700 is being showcased at this year’s GITEX Technology Week as part of NetApp’s participation in the event at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The NetApp exhibition booth is located at stand C6-20 in hall 6. Other NetApp solutions that are being highlighted are the new NetApp cloud connected all-flash data management portfolio; NetApp ONTAP AI powered by NVIDIA DGX supercomputers; NetApp HCI; NetApp Cloud Volumes Service for Google Cloud Platform and AWS; and Cloud Volumes ONTAP for Azure.
